Pray privacy policy

Pray creates a deliberate pause before selected apps. It does not sell prayer content or use prayer content for advertising.

Account

Pray uses Sign in with Apple for prayer access. Pray stores an account identifier derived from your Apple sign-in and an encrypted Apple refresh token so it can keep your session working. You can delete your account from Pray Settings.

Screen Time data

Your selected apps and gate settings are handled through Apple's Screen Time frameworks and stored on your device in Pray's private app group. Pray cannot read the content of your apps, messages, or browsing.

Prayer audio, transcript, and consent

Before processing a prayer, Pray asks for your consent to send microphone audio for transcription and verification. While you pray, an audio file exists temporarily on your device. When you finish or cancel, Pray reads or discards that file and deletes it. If Pray is interrupted, it removes any leftover prayer file the next time the app launches.

The app sends finished audio through Pray's Vercel server to ElevenLabs Scribe for transcription. The transcript stays on the server and is sent with prayer timing to OpenAI for a brief verification response; it is not returned to the app.

Pray's application server does not store prayer audio or transcripts in a database. It temporarily stores the brief verification response with the prayer session so the app can recover it if delivery is interrupted. Pray deletes that response when the app confirms delivery or when the session expires, no more than 24 hours after the response is ready.

Pray does not keep a server-side prayer history, use prayers for advertising, or sell them. ElevenLabs and OpenAI may retain API data under their service terms and data controls. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API account owner opts in, and eligible API data may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days.

Purchases

Apple processes payments. RevenueCat receives subscription status, an anonymous app-user identifier, Apple Ads attribution data when available, and the anonymous identifier created by the Meta SDK so Pray can unlock Pro features and measure subscription results from ads. Pray does not receive your payment card details.

Advertising measurement

If you allow tracking, Pray uses Meta App Events to measure app opens, first completed prayers, and subscriptions. Pray sends Meta's standard StartTrial event only when an account completes its first prayer. This event name does not mean that a free trial has started; Pray does not currently offer one. Pray sends the Subscribe event through RevenueCat only for the account's first paid subscription purchase. Restores and renewals do not send Subscribe. If you decline tracking, Pray does not initialize Meta App Events.

These events do not include prayer audio, transcripts, reflections, selected apps, or content from other apps.

For installs associated with Apple Ads, Pray sends Apple's AdServices attribution token to RevenueCat. RevenueCat uses the resulting Apple Ads attribution data to connect subscriptions and revenue to the ad campaign. Pray may ask for App Tracking Transparency permission to receive more detailed Apple Ads campaign reporting and enable Meta ad measurement. If you decline, Pray still receives Apple's standard, privacy-preserving Apple Ads attribution data.

Meta may receive app and device details, network information, event time, and an anonymous identifier created by the Meta SDK. Pray keeps Meta advertiser-ID collection disabled and does not send IDFA to Meta. Meta processes the data it receives under Meta's Privacy Policy.

On-device data

Gate configuration, unlock windows, and prayer totals are stored locally. Removing the app removes its local data, subject to data Apple may retain for purchases and Screen Time.

Service providers

Pray uses Apple, RevenueCat, Vercel, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, and Meta to provide blocking, purchases, hosting, transcription, prayer verification, and advertising measurement. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms.

Your choices

You can turn off prayer processing in Pray Settings. After that, Pray will not process another prayer unless you agree again. You can also change microphone and tracking permissions in iOS Settings, change Screen Time authorization, restore or manage purchases, and delete Pray to remove its local app data.
